Dental Insurance Plano
Dental Insurance Made Easy to Understand and Use
Trying to figure out your dental insurance plan can be a headache. There are deductibles to meet, annual maximums to watch, and networks to understand—where does your actual dental care fit in? At Antoon Family Dental, we know insurance can be confusing and frustrating. Your Plano dentist is here to help you make the most out of your benefits, and our team is glad to make the whole insurance process simpler for you whether you’re a new patient or you’ve been with us for years.
How Dental Insurance Works
Using your dental insurance benefits to the fullest enables you to enjoy better oral health. Because preventive dentistry is crucial to a healthy, long-lasting smile, your dental insurance plan should fully cover two checkups and hygiene visits per year. You may receive a set of X-rays for free each year, too. And, if you need any restorative care (like fillings, extractions, or root canal therapy), those services should be at least partially covered.
Your plan will likely have an annual maximum or the most amount of cost your plan will cover within a given year. Most plans are on an annual calendar, meaning your benefits will renew on January 1st each year. If you have met your deductible but have not reached your annual maximum by the end of the year, contact us to find out how you can make the most out of your benefits before they expire.
What is the Difference Between Dental & Medical Insurance?
Dental insurance works like your medical insurance in a couple of ways. Most have a premium or a fixed amount you pay (usually monthly) in exchange for your benefits. If you have a deductible, you must pay a certain amount of money out of pocket before your benefits kick in. However, medical insurance is mainly supposed to cover treatments after a problem comes up rather than preventive services. On the other hand, dental insurance is primarily geared toward stopping dental issues from happening at all.
In-Network VS. Out-of-Network
The terms in-network and out-of-network can seem intimidating at first. When you have dental insurance, an in-network dentist is the way to go to get the most value from your benefits. You see we have agreed with the dental insurance company to provide care at a reduced rate to you.
In-Network Coverage
You can find a list of in-network dentists on your provider’s website or give us a call to double-check that we’re in-network. Here are some of the insurance companies we are in-network with:
- BlueCross BlueShield
- Cigna
- Delta Dental
- Guardian
- Humana
Out of Network
Even if we are out of network with your insurance, you may still be eligible to receive discounts on your care. We would be happy to file claims for you so that you can be reimbursed. Many dental PPOs (preferred provider organizations) allow you the freedom to choose your dental professional without network restrictions.
